My first wedding back in full swing since February of 2020. After 26 years of capturing weddings, I have to admit the pause was exactly what I needed. And to come back to my first wedding after the pandemic to this magical day was exactly what I needed for a breath of fresh air. The Inn at Park Winters in Winters, CA is a magical venue complete with vista views, a vintage mansion and an old farm house. Pair that background with a beautiful bride and handsome groom and about 150 people from my hometown of Half Moon Bay, and it was such a perfect day in every way!

Beautiful Kings Mountain Wedding

If you have never traveled the redwood tree lined road of Skyline you are truly missing out. There are a few magical spots within this majestic forest to say your vows and I think I stumbled upon a new one this summer. Henrik Ibsen Park in off of Skyline in Kings Mountain (also mapped out nestled into the hills of Redwood City). Although, I think this may be a rare treat as I’m pretty sure you have to have an in into this majestic Norwegian property… But on this one summer day, I had my in… and I was so glad I was able to capture this!

Ciara and Will created a fun and magical day . There day started with a “fake” first look as the best man dressed up in a bridal gown and gave Will a lasting impression. This really set the flavor and the fun for the rest of the day. Although, a fun DIY wedding, the venue was elegant and glowing decorated with twinkly lights, and the gorgeous flower arrangements from Flora and Fauna! The sun was shining, the vows were touching and everyone was happy to be apart of such a magical day with a loving couple!

Living in Northern California, Half Moon Bay to be exact, we are fortunate enough to live where the mountains meet the sea. With that said, some might think it's obvious to capture your family portraits by the ocean, as it truly is magical… and I won’t disagree, if that is what describes your family. However, the country offers a natural setting that can really amplify the spirit of your loved ones…. if you are still torn, we can even find locations where the mountains meet the sea, such as the bluff tops of Montara… or just play in the tall grasses of the country, or find locations like Cowell State Beach that have country like roads that look like they go on for miles.

If you are a more rustic person, and/or just want something different, let me capture your next family portrait utilizing some of our amazing mountain sides.

Its very rare (so rare, I can’t even think of an actual time) that I have walked away from a photo shoot and not feel satisfied after capturing children and their innocence. For me, in some ways they are easier than adults because they have nothing to hide if approached right. The trick is finding that sweet spot, that spot that will open up to a giggle, or a tender moment that can only be seen usually for a split second.

I remember photographing my own kids before they “loved” the camera… that was a bit tricky, especially for my oldest, who getting to smile was like pulling teeth… and after each shoot I would be left sweating as if I just ran a marathon, but I walked away with my reward… the reward of capturing that golden stage before the next growth occurs. I was referred to Shanti by a friend, so my fiancé and I decided to use her for our engagement pictures. Shanti had fast responses to both my emails and phone calls and did a great job of answering all of my questions. She was very flexible as we had to reschedule several times due to being rained out. In the end, we were lucky enough to be able to take our photos on the Half Moon Bay bluffs on a 75 degree day in February! Shanti was able to make us both feel very comfortable in front of the camera (even my fiancé who doesn’t like having his picture taken) and gave us great direction for poses to ensure our photos turned out well. The finished photos are AMAZING and we were impressed with how well they turned out! We received the photos back very quickly and had full access to the digital versions so we could print and share them as we chose to. Needless to say, we’ve already booked Shanti for our upcoming wedding (August 2016) and can’t wait to work with her again!
